Well, I don't have much to offer you guys on the older traps.

I DO have something a little unusual, at least in my discussions with others.



Most people know about the Heimbrock Lightnings, and they came in the steel jawed version and aluminum version. Man, I'd kill to have 100's of them to deploy.

What many DON'T know is that the original aluminum version was cast in the same molds as the steel jawed version. But Jerry thought the jaws too thin and too fast, and maybe therefore, more fragile.

So, he made new molds at the foundry for a fatter, thicker jaw, which is the one he marketed. While he didn't make many of any of his traps, he only made a few dozen of the thin-jawed aluminum versions. I am lucky to have some of them.

In the pic, you can see the two aluminum versions next to each other, one thin, one fat. On top is the traditional, steel-jawed version.

Curious if any of you knew about this or own any of the thin-jawed versions?

Always wanted one or more of those traps, seems like the one time I saw them on the trap shed someone beat me to 'em.! DO you think the al. jaws would stand the gaff?------------Tom

Oh, man, you guys that hike up the mountains would LOVE the weight of these traps.....they feel like a 1.5 coil in the hand!

I was told by the guy that actually made the castings for the aluminum jaws and I asked him that same question and he told me that cast aluminum is tougher and stronger than cast iron and so more durable.

Wish jerry would make them . I would love to have some.

Those are sweet looking traps. Can you show a pic of them set. Also you ever use them or no. ?

What are these traps worth. ?

I have used them.....catching coyotes in all three types.....but retired them to the collection.

I will try to get some pics of them open......

What's a used steel jaw trap worth? Are these traps same as mj600.

If you set one for pictures, could you measure the jaw spread also? Are they equal in size to a MB 650? Did Northwoods make a gov't. trap of the same design? Thanks, Tom

North woods made a cast jaw dog less .mr bill had some on trap shed

I would assume the thin aluminum one would be worth the most.
