Nate in Wisconsin made the best. He sold the company and I have been trying to make an order for about 2.5 months. Im about ready to start making my own come down time this winter. I can send you the contact info but not sure it would do you alot of good at this point.

Tried flashers from WCS, had a peckerwood hitting the tin on top of a chimney, put one on each side of chimney, don't you think he was still pecking the tin between the flashers

Okay, flashers probably only work half the time. But the DNR wants the homeowner to at least try them before issuing a kill permit.

It seems no matter how many I buy, we always run out. Maybe the guys are decorating their trucks with them?

Paul,

Go to Menards (because I know you don't shop at Home Depot, Lowes, or Ace, lol) and look for metal duct tape (the kind they use (ok, are supposed to use) to seal the HVAC joints and connections) in the duct section. (Caution, they make at least two different thicknesses so you want the one that has a backing on it and not the one that is the thickness of packing tape.)

Now cut an 8 - 12 inch piece of it. I use 14 and 16 gauge trapping wire then punch a hole about 1/2 an inch from the end and hold the tape on the wire by bending the wire in a big loop so the tape can move and then I either bend the other end into a hook (J or number 7 shape) so I can use it as a hanger or if I need to attach it to the side of a house I'll get a shelf hanger to attach to the siding and then put the wire through the far screw hole, again with a big loop for movement.

You can also make these with fishing line and swivels, but I like the wire as it helps hold the "flasher" in place during medium strength winds and higher. They are cheap to make so you can hang one every 8 - 16 ft as needed. I have had success with them without any breeze, but I prefer the movement as well as the flashing from the sun.

Pawpaw always hung pie pans in the fig trees to scare off the birds.
