Seems a bit heavier than a 4 1/2 chain. 26 regular links with a bigger link on one end and the swivel and odd link on the other end.

It looks like a 415 chain to me

Dale, That is a off of a Canadian #4 & 1/2 Wolf Trap. That odd link that is riveted together in the middle is 100% Canadian. Also on your earlier Canadian wolf traps, the chain links are a little bigger than the American #4 & 1/2 link.

I thank you again for some good information Bruce. A bit more advice would be much appreciated.....
A friend needed some parts to complete a 4 1/2 and I ended up with this chain.
It was cobbled (beartrap type link to the base) to a 4 1/2 Kenwood with arched stamps near the spring bends. Can only read S NEWHOUSE on the upper arches.

Was there a Canadian Kenwwood 4 1/2 with arched stamps?
Is there more than two styles of base hookups for the 4 1/2?

The early Canadian Kenwwod have the Arched Oneida stamping which has the S Newhouse arched on the top, and Oneida Community arched on the bottom. It has a Canadian Flat swivel connected to the base link slide. I might have a picture of one on here. The earlier Canadian Kenwoods have a bigger chain link than the American version, which looks like that last link on your chain. I would say that chain with the swivel and Canadian double rivet link would go on a #4 & 1/2 OC Wolf with a wrap around on the base. BUT!!!! Never say never as I have seen some strange set ups on Canadian traps which I would say is do to using what they had to get orders out.

Dale, I just e-mailed you pictures of that Canadian Kenwood. The Canadian snap is also a different snap

WOW!!!!! Now there's some great info and some awesome pics. You need to post a few of those pictures cause I'm sure there are others that would like to see that chain set-up. And I for one never tire of looking at the old 4 1/2 pans!!!!!
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>THANKS BRUCE<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

But you got me a little worried... I know I had that snap in a box of parts somewhere and I think I may have pitched it.

And it's a good thing you mentioned the e-mail. I usually check it about twice a year and going through 2316 messages just gets a little overwhelming!
