ive got a guy having problems with coyotes on a big cattle farm, 100 acres all open pasture land and no access to outside of the fence.... my question is how can i go about trapping coyotes without the curious cows stomping my sets to bits?

Put your traps in an old tire in the field. the cattle will go around them.

Check "Trapper Talk." Virtually the same question. "Trapping pastures?"

Plus the tyre set is a fantastic set.

Put your tyres in the spots you want, put hay in the middle. Put grain inside the tyre so mice start visiting it when the season opens put a trap under the hay. Done.

That actually sounds like a pretty good set. Now us Yanks who don't know how to spell would probably use Firestone, B.F.Goodrich, or

Goodyear tires. What brand of tyres are the most popular in Manitoba?

You can also use a deep step down set, as cattle deer or other ungulates do not like to step down into a hole, while hunting predators do it all the time.

Yep. Step-downs and trench sets are usually cattle-proof. Cows generally will not step in holes because of broken legs.

Never recommend doing a job like this to a rookie,,,,no offense intended georgia muscle.... If you screw up that farmer looses more equity... Farming is not about making money it is Equity,,,,,, Make it pass it to the next gen so they can spend it.....

Myself I would run snares at the entrances,,,,,at night,,,when the cattle are sleeping,,,,,,them go tipping......

Snares on land not legal in Georgia, Vinke. GTA has always been opposed.

The fella has to learn somehow Vinke....I have never had a tough time trapping the pastures, I generally set a few more traps for obvious reasons, but I always felt like if I had to change my ways of trapping them I wouldnt be as effective.I use foot traps at crawl unders sometimes rigged on slide wires, works pretty good(we cant use snares here either).

Don't use any urine !

I've been told the tire set works good on both cattle and sheep pastures but I know for a fact that it will NOT work in a goat pasture !
