Someone on here posted a formula that they used to better approximate the size of a beaver for boarding purposes, IE which line on the pattern to use.

I just need to remember to save this on my computer since this years beaver line has been slower than normal to keep me in practice lol.

Lets see if I remember it right. Nose to base of tail length hanging, add 1/2 of the length plus 2" or Length plus 2/3 minus 3". Suprisingly they work out to be very close to the same.
It's been a few years since I put up any beaver. My buyer likes them green.

Here's the best formula I know,

Measure the length of the beaver hanging by the nose. Take half that length and add it on. Then add 5 inches. This gives the stretched size.

Example: hanging by the nose beaver is 40 inches. Half of that is 20 which is added for a total of 60. Adding 5 more gives 65 inch beaver.

The way i do it is cut the nose off and grab the top and bottom of the pelt and lay it on your board and pull it tight but not to tight and go in about 2 lines and you should be close if not the tail will hang down further which you can strech for extra inches. when nailing, nail it out half way and then strech the tail tight and nail down to it.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, I wrote it down from a post on here. Hang a yard stick on a wall (a long yardstick lol) From the outer ring.
1-- over 44"
2-- 42" to 43"
3-- 39" to 41"
4-- 37" to 38"
5-- 33" to 36"
6-- 30" to 32"
7-- 27" to 29"
