Need some advice on rats in the house. I have not seen the problem yet but am told there are rats in the house. They say they can be heard running up wall or across the celing. Is there something I should be looking for? What's the best method for removal. Thanks for any advice..

The only job that I've had with rats as you've described, they were all caught outside in baited squirrel cages.

VPRT's are my preferred method for the removal of rats, I personally don't use poisons or cages. I'd look for droppings and holes in and around the house. With a good thorough inspection you should find something, and when you're close you should be able to smell it. Once you locate them you may need to cut out sections of walls/ceiling to remove their nesting if any, depending on how the contract was written up. For a simple bait try nutella and peanut oil, I have great success in the warmer months with it. If for some reason you're having no luck feel free to pm me and I'll send you a sample of what I use.

Where's a good place to buy peanut oil? I use Reese's chocolate peanut butter instead of Nutella. I was hoping to find some place besides Sam's Club or Costco.

I have never used peanut oil in my life but I gave it a shot on the computer. How about Amazon, E-Bay, Target, or Walmart.

While I don't do ADC commercially I used to do pest control for one of the big national companies in the south more than a few years ago and did a lot of rat eradications. TDHP is correct in that you will smell them if it's a large infestation. If you can find where they're coming in close it off with either small mesh hardware cloth and/or coarse steel wool. Inside the house you'll need to locate there runways in the attic or basement/crawl space or both, there will be runways or sign if rats are present. Then you can decide on whether to use traps or bait. I preferred using bait as it was there for them working 24/7 until gone where as a trap goes off once then needs removal and resetting. Hope this helps.

Any place that sells fish fry stuff should have peanut oil, it's the BEST for cooking fish, chicken etc.

Rodents are pretty easy to trap, that's a pretty good simple bait as is, in warm weather. Like everything else in trapping when the seasons change eating habits do too, might not change too much for rodents but certain odors will get their attention more than others, but remember it's just a rat.

99% of the time this is what I use for rodents.
