Louver vents that are "bat-proofed" from the inside are high on the list.

Vinke,

Funny related story had a lady ask me yesterday after getting my proposal for the exclusion of a large colony, if I could just deal with the few problem areas she knew about and that sealing the rest of the house was unnecessary...

Someone will likely take her cash, not I.....

Her analogy was "when I hire a plumber for one leaky pipe, they don't sell me looking for leaks in the whole house....

Another analogy was if I call a painter they don't come in and paint my whole house, they ask me what I would like painted....

Longest 45 minutes in recent memory.....

Wished her good luck with finding someone who would know how to do bat exclusion properly and accommodate her specific budget and desire to dictate how they conduct the work...

Yikes!

Most missed spot I see is high up as DaveK said.

Or not missing the spot but stuffing in materials like air conditioner filter and not bonding or securing it... Lasts about 3 months in our wind and elements...

It's hard to tell. With the age of a lot of these houses and the thawing and freezing we have here, you sometimes don't know if it

was a miss or a new opening. The only cure for some of these relics is to tear them down and start over. We have always lived in

newer houses in really good bat territory but we've never had a bat in our home. A new home isn't a guarantee, however. I've seen

very new, very expensive houses that look like they were put together by the Three Stooges during a building boom. Either that or the

builders were bat lovers and built little doors for them all over the third story.

Not sure....either big brown or little brown...or both. My instinct is to assume little brown...since they hibernate in mines...caves...or even cracks in ground.

But, I hate to assume anything with bats. You might have nailed it with ding bat.

Missing mortar between bricks on chimney, especially the chimney face away from house on an outside wall. Also the mortar around the flu up top.

So they were going under the deck to access a hole in the structure?
