I was wondering if there is an optimum age where wild stimulated seng somewhat hits a peak of growth? Meaning is it wise to let 15 yr old seng just keep on growing? Is it really going to be putting on that much root bulk or is it kind of maxed out and only gaining root mass at a very low percentage?
Kinda like raising a pig, but on a waaay longer scale???

I hope I'm making sense here smile

Well Ginseng is a very interesting plant/root. I have found Ginseng over 50 years old. The Buyers and Medical Practitioners see it as: the older the root, the better the medicinal values. legally the root has to be a certain age to harvest, and even if you harvest it medical practitioners believe that it doesn't reach its full medicinal properties until at least 15 years of age.

I think the question was asked about woods grown Ginseng. I buy a lot of woods grown every year and the growers in Indiana have trouble getting the root to 12 years old. Lots of disease in woods grown seng. even transplanted wild has a bit of trouble with root rot and tops that blight out . People that live in the perfect area may well get roots that are 15 years and above.
