Ok guys, Two or three of is new guys have had trouble getting skunks, and no one ever mentions that there are several lure options mixed specifically for skunks in ADC work.

Do they work or not?

Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!

If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

Yes they do work for me. If you get Trappers World, take a look at Ron Jones' article this month. It doesn't work with most commercially-available lures that are not made for taste but you can use them in the back and use other taste baits to snack em in. That's my experience I am speaking from. I also sometimes use double doors over the entryway.

I don't believe it takes a special bait or lure for an ADC skunk. At least her, they are piggies, location and opportunitie is what matters. I'd he doesn't want vaninalla and marshmallows, I don't think fish is going to change it much.

Some commercial lures work, some not so much. I think bait works far better.

Trail cams are inexpensive and will let you see first hand how a skunk reacts to your bait or lure.

small marshmallows with bacon grease to lure in & fried chicken bones as bait always worked great for me, as for commercial baits & lures, not so much

Didn't forget, I mainly use fresh sweet baits/lure in warm weather and heavy lure in the cooler weather also with bait. If you're having trouble using commercial and your own bait gallon up old fruits and vegetables then let it sit in the sun until you have the desired amount of juices then screen, only takes a few drops in the cage on a bright rag then add a little debris in and on the cage ie small bag bright object aka filthy/trash set. It works on every animal out there some take more interest than others but perfect for adc. As sgs stated put a trail cam on it.

it's not the lure or bait as much as it is location and presentation on the hard skunks. 80 % are no brainers 20% are hard with 10% of the 20 down right nightmares. but My banana Supreme with sweet corn lure is my go too. I have a skunk article in trappers post this past year sometime. talking about this. my new purple passion is doing good also but not done testing it about another month worth.

I forgot to take a lunch today and ate the rest of my skunk bait. Then started on the woodchuck bait.

The use of lure and baits are what I consider a supplement to trapping any animal. A good trapper can trap just about any animal without either item. What I mean by this is having a good skill set to know the animal and its habits, being it a den site or a frequently used travel way or trail.

Once you have good sign reading skills most of the hard work is done.

But that is a challenge for some. They don't have those skills initially but are things that must be learned over time or learned from another by hands on work.

Lures, baits and trailing scents work very well of many types and odors. They do aide in a set up and many times seal the deal for some animals. Along with the use of visual materials for the animal to focus upon they support the animals primal thoughts that the odor origin is coming from that visual product causing further advancement to investigate.

I use a lot of lure and bait presentations and have for almost 50 years. Blind / trail sets and positive sets also have their place in general trapping use whether it is for ADC work or fur trapping. I use them all successfully.

I view lure and bait as icing on the cake but by no means the holy grail to trapping successfully. With fur trapping I depend strongly on lure, bait and trailing scents but still utilize trail sets with no odor placement many times as circumstances and location conditions dictate.

Has anyone tried Lenon's Skunk lure? I used it before and loved it.

Turns out the Mogan David wine company makes a wine called "MD20/20 Peaches & Cream." It is sold next to the 40 ounce bottles of Colt 45 malt liker at my convenience store. When mixed with Bob's P&C you have hallucinations. We have NO SKUNKS where I moved to in NC.

The so called hurrricane was July 4th a year ago. We were all scared but the NE flow of the hurricane wind blew all the water out of our creek. Now we know why we don't need flood insurance!

It seems to be true Phil. When I bought our house in Williamston the neighbors had no idea what a skunk was. So I opened up the back of my truck. They also want me to bring down all the raccoons I can fit in the truck. Dead of course, and will pay $15 a piece for them. 12 more months and I'm down there permanently.
