I am having trouble identifying the brand and size of this trap. Any help would be appreciated.

It is a "Stop Thief" trap, #1 size.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if it was a Stop Thief or Foster or Jack Frost. I could not find any markings but not sure exactly where to look.

The early Stop Thief's, made by Animal Trap Co., Abingdon,IL. are not marked. Then Oneida Community bought them out and the O.C. ones are marked on the kill bar or the wide end of the trap.

Thank you. You obviously know a lot about the Stop Thiefs. According to my price guide these traps may be worth $150 at the top end?

I have been collecting for over 30 years. Be careful of price guides, they are only a guide and only as good as the person that wrote them. I ONLY use the Tom Parr, Blaze Andreski guide and it is not perfect. It has a top end of $300-400 on the rarer sizes of Stop Thief. A trap has a different value to different people. A trap is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Stop Thief's were made in sizes #0, 1, 2, 3, 3 1/2, 4 and 5. #1 thru 3 1/2 are the common sizes.

As snakecollector detailed above, the mid-size stop thief traps are common and not very valuable. In addition, it appears to me that the trigger on your trap is likely a replacement. It is heavier than triggers on traps I have. If the trigger is replaced the value would be reduced.
