I was reading the latest NWCOA publication and they had an article calling attention to the fact that a NWCOA member's company had

received Angie's Super Service Award. I just wanted to ask if any of you T-Man readers had also received this award?

Nope...been on angies list free listing for 2 years....not one job from it or even a lead

I always thought that was a gimmick award to sell you advertising.

Since we have won the Super Service award in both pest and animal control since 2007, I have a tendency to agree with you Bob. The

only thing that blows up that theory is that your customers have to send in high enough grades on the quality of your work in order

for you to get the award. And of course they want to sell you lots of advertising. You have to admire the whole Angie's List concept.

They have figured out who the best performers are in any given area and those are the companies everyone would like to sell

advertising to.

I'm with Trapper. I've been on Angie's list since right after starting in business. I've not received a single review or call stemming from it. Angie's popularity must be a regional thing. We have a large German population here, and most won't spend the money to get a review that they can get from free from their friends and neighbors.

Where I get down on Angies List is that they market themselves to homeowners as this impartial, review based, contractor resource and they charge the homowner for the access to their list of contractors.

They will also charge us to be listed or premiered on their first page of results. I think if the customers who pay for the access to their reviews knew they were biased by money they would go somewhere else like Yelp.

I'm as guilty as the rest of us. We have a saying here; "you can always tell a German, but you can't tell him much".

Freistadt, Wi. ( Believe it or not, that church is now one of our customers ) I know that Freistadt means Free State, so what does

Haubstadt mean?

It was named after Henry Haub, but I think the translation has since been changed to beer. Our town logo is a beir stein, it's on everything except the police cars.
