well,

i'm new to the trapping game... just got my first half dozen to practice on a few dayz ago. so i boiled em clean.... then i hung em up wet for a day, and guess what.. the next day they were as shiny and new as b4. so i thought " heck, at this rate they won't be rusted enough to dip for weeks!" well, i decided to try 50/50 mix of white vinegar/water misted over them from a spray bottle just for no reason. and as of 24 hours later they are as rusty as old barn nails. i think i've found a secret for the impatient person to be able to dip traps w/o much waiting. anyone else ever tried this?? also, how much of the rust do you need to wipe off before you dip? i'm using Formula 1 Brown.

thanks, RP

Been using that speed rusting technique for years.
Don't wipe any rust off.
Take them to the car wash and power the vinegar off of them.
Then they're ready for Formula 1.
Make sure the F 1 and traps are over 50 degrees.
Merry Christmas
JOHN

Atleast 2 coats, but probably 3 to start with. Let them dry completely before dipping again. After a few catches, the dip will wear off and then re-dip.
