Quite a few years ago I set 220's for skunks. Caught only skunks, no nontargets. Over a dozen. I believed every one sprayed.

I've used 155s and 120s as I feel the 160 is just too big of a body gripping trap for skunks and it wasn't legal to use here until recently for wildlife control work. I haven't caught more than 10 skunks in the body grippers but with my limited numbers I'd say it is about a 60/40 split between spraying and not spraying.

Eric, the only thing I can think of is that the 40% that didn't spray were deprived of scent glands. I've had a few in Conibears that

I swear waited for me to show up before they sprayed. Again, this was fur trapping and non-target catches. I did catch a prime red

fox in a 220 set for raccoons so I guess you've got to take the good with the bad too.

Paul,

Where the bars hit was what made the difference. If it was just a neck catch, no spray. If it was a "suit case" catch, it was spray every time.
