The boss is not overjoyed with our CC service and she is looking for new ideas. I know this has been discussed time and time again

but I'm just wondering if something new has popped up. ( I can't keep up with everything )

I kinda like the sliders (like Square) that work on a smart-aleck-phone. Much, much easier than dialing in the CC numbers. What's that credit card you advised us to use a coupla WCT issues ago?

Dave, I'm thinking you're talking about the Penfed Visa for gasoline. Yeah, so far I haven't seen any other CC that gives back 5% on

every gallon you buy. How much is a slider? The boss is afraid that our guys will leave them in an attic like everything else.

Sliders are $10 from a Radio Shack(get them while they are still in business) but when you download the app on your phone they will send the first one for free. I don't like the slider because I have to take my case off my phone to use it. You don't have to use the slider to take the credit card you can type it in but then they charge you an extra 1%. I think it is 2.75% if you slide.

I use Freshbooks. Its and invoicing and expense tracking software that costs $30 a month. It allows you to send an invoice and people can pay online with Stripe or Paypal. If they pay online there is a percentage fee similar to Square. I never see the credit card so I will never get accused of stealing anyone's identity. Its all third party unlike Square. There are a few things I don't like about Freshbooks but nothing I hate enough to change.

The little sliders attach to phone audio jack so are thus removable/pocketable, plus the ones I've seen come with a lanyard. Mine stays in the truck til I need it.
Some are free with service, or as Bob describes above. As I said, if you're with the customer and card, the sliders are much quicker than manual entry.

My master card through Sam's club gives me 5% on gas, 3% on travel including meals, and 1% on everything else.

Jim, according to the Sam's Club ad, you only get 5% on the first $6000 and 1% after that. But you could be grandfathered in to a

better deal. I know I am with AMEX but you can't get that deal any more. PenFed still seems to be one of a kind.

waterwells, I'm not sure what type of plan we have, but we have ten cards and everybody that works for us uses them and we get 5%

knocked off of the bill every month.

Not sure about the $6000. I don't run that many miles in 4 months.

I wouldn't know about the interest rates on any of our cards and we have a bunch. One of the rules of this house and this business

is "We don't pay interest to credit card companies; They pay us." Which means if we can't afford it, we don't buy it.

A-men! I learned the hard way a long time ago to never get behind on CC payments. Who taught me this lesson? My wonderful wife, who has a degree in accounting (among other degrees).

EMV chip credit cards are starting to roll out, dont know if any of the wireless card readers are compatible with those yet.

That's what my wife told me. Before we do anything, we need to see what we're going to need for the new cards. I suppose a painless

transition would be too much to hope for.

When I got my EMV chip card, it still has a bar to swipe and is no problem.

The boss has received information that in October we will all need new machines for swiping the EMV card. Whether this is the truth

or just someone trying to scare us into buying a new, more expensive machine, only the Good Lord knows.

I think for the fraud protection(what the EMV chip is for) part you will need the new scanners. Eventually I would imagine that you'll have to have those scanners once all the mag strip cards are obsolete.

Square has plans to release new readers that are compatible with the EMV chip credit cards.

In October which is what I believe Paul W was referring to. Assuming they can hit that target.
