Wire of some sort pegged/buried 6" and attached to the building with a furring strip, usually....after filling the hole with sakrete...add some sakrete and more after fencing and it has a super hold...from both sides.

Thats pretty much what I do, i was just wondering how far left and right of the hole some of you guys are going to prevent it from digging next to it.

You either go all the way around or at a minimum until you get to a material the skunk cannot breach.

Eric, if it's under a house it would seem unrealistic to go all the way around.

Throwback, it depends on how the house is constructed. Stem wall with a crawl space with piers, monolithic or whatever. Some times the house may be both or several types of construction depending on design and load to bare. That is why Eric said what he did.
