How many of you guys trap big ranches, or duck and pheasant clubs.

I know of a couple duck clubs and a turkey club and the areas have more coons than I have seen anywhere else.

I was thinking at 10,000 a blind or 2,000 and buy in for some of the turkey clubs, maybe these area could use some raccoon and fox trapping to help protect the eggs during laying season. Do any of you guys do this kind of work. I know all the hunters say they would just go shoot the coons, but they get maybe one or two a year, and my traps would be there 24/7

Its something that really interest me. How many acres are they and how many traps do you put out. What kind of numbers are you taking and how long do you trap?

How many traps do you put on on big tracts? What time of year is best from a management point of view?

I don't know why everyone jumps straight to coyotes. What about raccoons, skunks, and possums. They are all terrible nest raiders and eat Turkey, pheasant and quail eggs. Not to mention coons will kill all those bits, probably more than yotes. Then coyotes you could try and hunt at night.

I don't have near the traps to handle a big preserve the way I want, but I would like to work towards it. I'd like to do it mostly to get an in with landowners! I've just got into duck hunting and am tired of the sweat line at the refuges!

Vinke, I always enjoyed hunting waterfowl. I've shot Blues, Snows, Cacklers, regular Canadas, and the non-migrating Greater Canadas

which are now pooping in every body of water they can find. We are also supposed to have White Fronted geese come through Wisconsin

but I've never seen any. The best shot I've made is three Canadas flying with one shot, but that only happened once. Emptying my gun

and having nothing fall has happened a lot of times.

I call bull Paul, three with one shot? In my experience it takes half a box to bring down one!

Throw Back, you must have learned how to shoot from my son. He shot so many holes in the sky, I thought he was a protectionist.

Someone suggested I try using those $4 a pop tungsten loads for goose. It just didn't make sense why I would want to spend 4x as much to miss a goose
