I found a couple traps while preparing a trapline outside Anchorage in 1982. This is one of them. No markings unfortunately.

I found some rock formations that I thought would make a nice natural cubby set location and while cleaning out the inside I found the traps! I'll post pictures of the other trap soon, I don't know what kind it is, but it's not hand forged.

I think thats an english trap
One way or another it probably found its way to British Columbia and worked its way north
probably set in the rock cubby for fox

Nice find! Sounds like a trapper cached them there for later use. "The Steel Trap in North America" by Richard Gerstell shows a trap very much like this on page 145. Your trap appears to have a much heavier base. I can't remember where I read it, but apparently blacksmiths in the 1700's to 1850 here in America reused buggy springs for this style spring also.

That was my thought, both stored away for later use, I was very fortunate to find them for sure. I thought the same thing about the spring, possibly a seat spring, which I have seen some that appeared similar.

that cubby was probably a good location. If a trapper 175 + years had placed a trap there.
