How important is it once the ice goes on the pond to use baited sets or positive sets close or at the lodge? I'm a little surprised to see that dam breaks are being ignored (even when I drop the level of the pond 5" and bait poles in the channel near the dam are being ignored. (Ice hasn't been safe enough to set the lodge.) I'm not a pro beaver guy but I've never had a problem taking them in open water quickly and efficiently.

Thanks!
