Anyone with further knowledge, input, or even more questions; Please join in. This is my experience with the vole. Since our lot

was a hayfield 15 years ago, the first time I cut my lawn, we had sauteed meadow mice everywhere. Since many of our customers had

a similar problem, I kept my eye on the situation. This is what ( I think ) I learned. Voles are not crazy about Bell Labs

Contrax Blox. No rodents are crazy about Liphatech Kaput bait. And finally, no rodent in southeast Wisconsin will even open up a

cellophane bag to even taste ZP! ( Zinc Phosphide, the recommended bait for voles.) Thank God that Ron Scheller has a guaranteed

method of catching voles quickly in snaptraps or my lovely bride would be a widow. ( She would have killed me ) What I would like

to know is if you guys ( as I suspect ) have had better luck with soft bait on voles. We can't go around and snaptrap all the

voles at all the customers! Awaiting your replies, both pros and cons.

Sorry Paul, I can't help. I don't have a pesticide license. Need one to use poisons in my state.

Last time I looked...contrac was not approved for Voles...at least in MI.

Dave, you are correct. My thought on the subject was that since Contrac was approved for mice and rats, and a vole is actually a

mouse that falls in between those two, and can easily get into bait boxes, once he eats the Contrac he will be just as dead. I guess

I'm looking for something that is approved for voles that they will actually eat. ( Unlike Kaput and ZP which nobody eats )

Be very clear as to what rodenticides are appropriate. House mouse bait is not intended for use on voles.

Dave, rat bait is not intended for dogs, raccoons, squirrels, etc. either, but they eat it. The whole subject of this post is

what is intended for voles that they will actually eat. So far I've got the bait on snaptraps and I'm not sure that's approved either.

"Appropriate" is not the same as "attractive". If you've ever had a dog, you know they'll eat a huge range of inappropriate things. By appropriate, I mean legal and effective.

Yup, legal and effective is what I'm searching for, but no answers yet. Any soft bait legal for voles? By the way, I'm guessing that

this is a Federal thing and that what is illegal in Maine, is illegal in California, right?

I put the link to a database. It's regulated by state.

Hello Paul,

I heard a master gardener rave about this product on his radio talk show. I have never used it.

I use unbaited snaps with a spike through them to anchor. Place them on their runs and they will run right into them.

Dave K, this CWCP doesn't have moles so the manufacturers don't care about me.

Dave K, if you were trying to drive me to tears, you came pretty close. I Googled Wisconsin moles. The first one was from UWM and

was written by Scott Craven, a prof that I've heard on at least two occasions and kind of like.

The next was Wil-Kil pest control, which WAS a company I also kind of liked until now. Big wrong impression on moles!

The next one was a company advertising for animal and pest control in Waukesha. They had a picture of both a vole and a mole on

their website and I was sure that they were going to say that there were moles in Waukesha. Thank heavens that I was wrong. Their

last sentence read "there are no moles in Waukesha county." If you wonder why I am pointing this out, that last company seems to

owned by me! Dave, if you were going for my second heart-attack, you nearly succeeded. I know that you have complete control over

your company and are nearly exempt from surprises. I am not that lucky. Scott Behrens pretty much summed up our mole problem in

Wisconsin more than twenty years ago. This is what he said, " This is not etched in stone, but if you were to draw a line from

the southwest corner of our state to northeast corner of our state, you would find that nearly everyone on the west side had moles,

while the east side doesn't even know what you're talking about."
