I HAVE HAD THIS TRAP FOR OVER 40 YEARS,,GOT IT OFF A FARM IN NORTHWEST IOWA,,THE INSIDE JAW SPREAD IS EXACTLY 6",,NOW MY QUESTION,,THE LOOSE JAW IS 3/4" WIDE THE TIGHT JAW IS 1/2" WIDE AND THE TIGHT JAW IS A LITTLE UNDER AN 1/8 INCH THICKER THAN THE LOOSE JAW,,THE PAN WAS STAMPED BUT IS PRETTY MUCH UNREADABLE,,THE SPRING ON THE CHAIN SIDE WAS MARKED BUT IS UNREADABLE,,THE OTHER SPRING HAS THE MADE IN USA STAMP,,ANYONE EVER SEEN THIS JAW CONFIGURATION BEFORE,,,THE RIVITS ARE ORIGINAL AND HAVE NOT BEEN MESSED WITH(IN MY OPINION)

Paul, I can not tell from your photos but I will bet that the larger jaw is hand forged and not original but a blacksmith replacement. The smaller jaw is cast and is the original factory jaw. One jaw likely broke and was replaced. This trap dates to the 1870's, the long link chain has every other link cast and every other link hand forged. The spring that is stamped with "made in USA" was made between 1913 and 1925. Dean
