Hey everybody seriously considering this as a job but have a few questions. First is your clientele is it more suburbia agricultural residential or what? I live in a farming community so I'm leaning more to farmers with crop damage. What ab,out exclusion work? A lot of you have said its your bread and butter but I suck at carpentery. So any tips on this and anything else you care to throw in would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

JSD, as a farmer's son and has known farmers all his life, if you have a talent for this type of business, move! Farmers are still

tight with a buck when we are old and wealthy. I just happened to get lucky and the really big bucks people came in and bought most

of the farmers out. Your target customers are those people that make such a huge amount of dollars per hour that doing any kind of

work like ours, will actually cost them money. I don't want to dissuade you but unless you can get some kind of government

contract for a lot of farmers, you probably won't make a living. Farmers enjoy doing this kind of work themselves. Wealthy people

enjoy seeing how many different kinds of people they can employ to do the work for them. Some times it's hard to get another truck

in their yard.

It went up, it was 3.63 yesterday. We usually get a deal on a few tons from a local farmer, that plants a couple thousand acres. Now I understand why he planted none this year, and all his fields are in soybeans. He said it's a lot more risk, but much better money in the end. No corn for us this year.

Corns making between 235 and 260 dry, best corn I've ever seen. Can't get it under 21 percent so gotta dry every bit. Still will probably loose 150 to 200 per acre.

it is not a stupid question if you do not know the answer

As long as the beans are 3.4 or later they are making awesome too. 70 to as much as 80. Maybe they will make up for the corn.

Drive to Lexington. You move after you prove your right.

Before you give up look for a niche market. Kirk Dekalb did well on beaver in irrigation ponds in a largely agricultural area. But even He will tell you it's a hard area to make a living.

JSD listen to Paul and Warrior!....

I'm doing OK on the jobs that I do in my rural community but it's a tough sell when there's usually a couple kids up the road with .22's they can turn loose on the problem.

ADC work is a lot more than just putting a trap down and walking away. Some of the things you will be dealing with are, wildlife diseases, euthanasia, business practices, animal handling, book keeping, record keeping,
Legal and ethical principles, trapping in urban areas, exclusion just to name a few. Some one said you need a service area of 250,000 people to make a go of it, not sure where I read that. I would guess you will put on 30-45 thousand miles on a truck a year. No since in buying cheap trap, 75-110+ each. This is just the short list. One thing about ADC work, it never gets boring. I would test the water before jumping in. JMO

Our rural business is city folk moving up from NYC. Once they buy the house and land they discover insects, mice, skunks, possums, moles, etc.
