outdoorsmen OP trapper O Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 52 Wisconsin	I was wondering if someone could help me identify these trap tags and maybe how old they are. I got them with some used traps I bought. A couple have the last name olsen and harpers ferry iowa on the back.

PaulB trapper P Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 4,402 Iowa	1939 OR 40 WAS THE FIRST YEAR,,,MINNESOTA,ILLINOIS,WISCONSIN,AND IOWA ALL HAD THEIR OWN,,AFTER THAT THEY USED A UNIVERSAL TAG FOR ALL STATES BUT NEVER THE SAME SHAPE 2 YEARS IN A ROW,,DURING WORLD WAR 2 THEY MADE THEM OUT OF STEEL AND USED THE SAME SHAPE MORE THAN ONCE,,THEY ARE STILL USED TODAY,,I AM NOT SURE WHAT YEAR THEY STARTED DATING THEM,,I SOLD MY ALMOST COMPLETE SET SEVERAL YEARS AGO,,,THERE ARE SEVERAL WISCONSIN COLLECTORS I KNOW WHO HAVE COMPLETE SETS,,,ALSO IN 49,50,51,& 52 THEY HAD SPECIAL TAGS MARKED BEAVER,,,

Moosetrot trapper M Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 7,179 Wisconsin	If you contact Brian Stemper, Fur Biologist at the USFWS Office in Winona, he has a complete list of the Refuge trap tags with drawings of the various shapes throughout the years. It's a great reference! Moosetrot
