I have a company name picked out but I can't decide what to use with it. ADC, animal control, animal relocation or what. I perceive a problem with people not knowing what the business does. When doing a search do people know what ADC or even animal damage control is. All suggestions and advise welcome. Thank you, Jonathan

I use: Humane nuisance wildlife control.....after the company name. People love the "humane" part.

If you use wildlife or animal and have a website you will get a little traction from google for some common keyword searches.

If you use animal you are going to get a lot of dog and cat calls. But you will get those no matter what your name is.

I use Wildlife Control. They seem to be able to make the connection to "animal control" and at least have a vague idea.

Pick a word that does not exist...then make it mean something. For example - Orkin. Can't argue with many many millions in sales...

The probably stole it from Robin William's first TV role; Mork from Ork.

Avoid acronyms. They could mean anything. I would say relocation, because that's is only a part of what u do. Control, we control a problem, prevention, exclusion, removal, its all apart.

Most people do not know what ADC, Animal Damage Control, Wildlife Control, Predator Control, etc. is. What you will want to do after choosing and registering your name is to focus on name branding, so people know what you do. There are lots of good examples of name branding such as McDonalds, Orkin, and NAPA where the name doesn't have any meaning with what the company is offering, but do to name branding everyone automatically knows.

The bigger issue you have with choosing a name, is to make sure that you aren't using one that is state (in the state you want to offer services in) or federally trademarked.

Several examples of federally trademarked names include "Critter Control", "Wildlife Solutions", and "Bats, Birds." In order to legally use these in a company name, you'd need to have permission from the owner. For instance, I own the federal trademark on "Bats, Birds" so anyone using these terms could be in violation if they started after my trademark was registered and didn't get my permission for use. This is where having an attorney research your name before registering it can pay off before you go through all the hassle only to get a cease and desist letter from the trademark owner's attorney.

Just make sure the name is not copy righted.

I would highly suggest to make your business name short, however this only a suggestion and the reason I suggest this is because I had previously owned an animal damage control company in Tennessee that I sold and the name of that business was extremely long, in all honesty it was very aggravating to type into a search browser. Once I relocated to Texas I decided on something simple and easy to remember and easy to type when doing a search on Google or Bing. Critter Control and Wildlife Solutions is a great example of this. My business name is Animal Outlaws, Easy to remember and type. Just make sure what ever name you decide to choose has something to do with wildlife or some-type of animal. Management.... use the word management. Management is removal, prevention, relocation, repair and control in general. I would definatly use the word wildlife also.
