Hey guys I just got my first ADC job today and need some help I've got some box traps that I've caught skunk in before but it took awhile to get the skunk to work it so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Bait, lure, location etc.

Thanks

Need more info:) What is the complaint? Skunk under deck etc. For bait I use Marshmallows with rosebud skunk bait, unless they are grubbing then grub paste works better for me. When you say took a while not uncommon for the skunk to be off site for 7+ days as they make their rounds. Grats on your first job.

The skunk is digging up this guys yard. It is out in the country. Lots of poplar trees. You also mentioned a grub bait do you make that or buy it?

get the attention of the skunk before he starts to dig. If you can go to the area where the skunk is coming into the yard and set there. this is the situation that the way you bait and lure can make or break you. or there is a skunk article in the trapper post May/June that may help you.

This is my first year doing commercial ADC work. This is what has worked for me so far. I use the six inch PVC traps. I put one marshmallow on the pan smeared with Grubstake bait and another behind the pan. Smear another mallow with Peaches and Cream and put it behind the pan. I drop a Cheezit cracker or piece of cookie in front of the trap and another a few inches inside the trap. Then I lay a trail with Yellow Stripe trailing lure to the trap. Some of these trails are 50 feet or more , depending on the terrain. I am far from being an expert on this , but have caught a bunch with this method this summer. Got the largest , fattest skunk I have ever seen last week. He was wedged so tight in the 6 inch trap that I had a hard time pulling him out.

Forgot to mention in my previous post , I get my lures and baits mostly from Wildlife Control Supply. Great products and service. Call your order in and get it in a couple of days. The Grubstake bait seems to work for me even when the skunks are not grubbing.

Same bait I use Grubstake from WCS that and rosebud are my go to baits for skunks. Peaches and Cream is what I use for a catch all bait even ground hogs like that one. Raccoons love it. Jonsie is spot on get them before they get into the yard. Seems some skunks start digging grubs they get focused on digging grubs. They will even walk past the best baited traps in their quest for the grubs. Get them at the wood line. If they are grubbing from outside the property you may have luck with drift fencing. Grubbing skunks can be tough so keep at it.
