Hello All,

How do you get rid of woodpeckers?

A client has a woodpecker pecking at the side of their home and it is creating holes. Is their a chemical deterrent?

Or do I stick ballons and streamers everywhere to scare it away?

Thanks

Chuck

I make a paste out of jalapeno pepper seeds, crush and grind into a paste, must wear rubber gloves.
Smear into holes made by the woodpecker, one taste and gone!!!

...and don't use the bathroom with those gloves on!
How long will this paste last? I've used RoPel; it's a misty mess. I'd much rather have the taste of jalapenos in my mouth than that nasty stuff.

It's been my experience that woodpeckers peck for two reasons. In the spring they peck to declare their territory. After that they peck for food.

Look to see if there are bugs of any sort under the siding.

It's probably not the only reason the little peckers would peck but it's one of the main reasons.

Get rid of the food and you get rid of the bird.

Lots of time they only think there's food there. IE T-111 siding with foil faced insulation board making noises in the hot sun.

it is not a stupid question if you do not know the answer
