This is a documentary on urban raccoons and their ranges and habits. I think it is a must see for the ADC people.

Thanks for the info. I would certainly have missed it otherwise.

Will have to look for it. We get 3 different PBS channels.

If this is the one that aired last year or so, you can also view it on NetFlix.

Is this the same one - http://video.pbs.org/video/2192070266 ? It is available for viewing, directly from PBS, at any time. You may have to watch a short commercial first. Very informative, shows scenes from around the world as well as from Toranto..

I watched for the first time and was way more impressed than normal. First of all, I've met Stan Gerht and some of you have too.

He's a no B.S. guy and I like him. ( Okay, I'm sure he has a Bachelor of Science degree, but that's not the BS I'm talking about )

The photography was excellent and the only very small arguments I have is the fox depredation thing ( A coon will kick a foxes butt

just about any day of the week ) and young raccoons spending a year with mom. ( Most young raccoons are on their own by November,

unless it's a late litter, in my part of the world ) The Germany/Japan thing blew me away. The only thing that surprised me was

that rabies wasn't mentioned. We have no raccoon rabies in Wisconsin but perhaps we're not the only place where it is

non-existant? Over all, a very intelligent and informative program. Whatta you guys think?

I've seen it before and was equally impressed.

I've watched it before also the squirrel one. There was a few things I didn't agree with but that's normal. Same here on kits, all on there own by fall. I would lay money on the coon in the coon/fox fight as well. I thought I got one of those german coons once. People migrated here from Austria to run a big dairy and as they were unloading the sea crate that held all their belongings it became apparent there was a creature inside. Turned out all their paper work wasn't correct and they got searched in New York. Obviously the threat of Austrian car bombers was a big threat 10yrs ago especially with 60yr old cow milkers. But anyways they left the crate open for 10 days or so and a coon got in. The suspence was crazy unloading that crate, we were all ready to capture some strange creature from Austria. We didn't know all the details till we were done. It wasn't until an Amish kid translated what the guy was saying that I found out about the NY part.

it is not a stupid question if you do not know the answer

Many old hands here made money because they tuned in to raccoon adaptations to the suburbs back in the 90's. Today's urban raccoon is not your sappy grandpappy's hound chased animal.

I didn't realize they would use so many den sites. Didn't it say, as many as 20, then to think of 20 den sites in a three block area.

I watched it also, very interesting. They did say 20 den sites, seemed like a lot to me; but they had them collared and were tracking them, so they should know I guess.
