this is sweetflag/calamus

be prepared to get wet and muddy if you tackle this one......it grows in wet conditions....it does resemble cattails except it don't get near as tall and the fronds are closer to the ground

you will need a spade

this stuff takes a long long time to dry so make sure its in an airy place because it can mold on you.










the roots make some killer muskrat lure/bait..........stuff smells realllllly good.

medicinally it's used to make calamine lotion, and in the pioneer days the roots were boiled in sugar to make candy.
