I have a couple of the R-24 Resister models that are the metal box with a mesh drop down door. I can't seem to get the triggers set sensitive enough to catch small skunks. I've set the door lever to just barely engage the trigger rod but the treadle still takes a bit of pressure to trip the trap. Has anyone else experienced this?

Small skunks? Use squirrel cage traps. I have great luck with 5x5's on skunk kits.

X2 on the 5x5's. I have had good luck with Jim Comstock's swing panel 5x5's, even on some really small ones.

Yes, I have caught the smaller ones in a 5x5. I have also seen a large skunk bump the door up on a 5x5 setting it off and backing out. I was hoping to find a way to be able to use one trap--tru catch resistor-- for all skunks as well as raccoons. I guess one size doesn't fit all in this circumstance. Thanks.
