What is the replacement rope for the crap that comes with Werner and other brands?

I have a 32' Werner and the blue rope which is braided loves to hang up when fully extended or partway down.

Any recommendations outside of user error? Lol.

Seriously sick of this issue.

Each type of rope has its own qualities (longevity, UV resistance, stretch). I think I use 3/8" polypropylene

Lowes sells replacement ropes for all Werner ladders. You can cut the rope to the length you desire. They all get frayed and brittle over time from use and carrying them on your truck.

I'm glad you asked: This is a two part answer and I went through an awful lot of work, so pay attention.

A. Hit the rain gutter and disturb all the yellow jackets. Fall two stories, land on your head. Go to hospital. Nothing wrong?

B. Wife suddenly hates ladders. Have ladder slip out in front of her while she's watching. Fall one story and collapse lung.

No more ladders. ( What I find sort of crazy is that I still have way less fear of ladders or heights than most of our techs. I do however, have a tremendous fear of my wife ) )

Hey, David, I've got that age thing accomplished. I guess now all I have to do is sit here and wait for the wisdom part.

10mm climbing rope. It will last the life of the ladder.

Thanks for the replies folks, SGS nailed what I was looking for.
This ladder has only been used 10 jobs maybe, it did this from job one
and I out off dealin with it. These cheap ropes that come with them have wide
thick braids that easily catch on the track stopping the action.

Will grab some 10mm!

Thanks!!

smile

And don't panic when you see that climbing rope stretch... that's what it's made to do !

If you buy the static vs. dynamic climbing rope you will get less stretch.

Werner pulleys are crap.
Replace the pulley with a quality all metal one and keep the poly rope.

People are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it's easier to pick on rich women than bikers.
