We have a steady seasonal mole control customer that I had the opportunity to chat a bit with while doing a set up for him several days ago.

I am told he came from a family of doctors and attorneys. He is a retired engineer of sorts.

His father was a family GP physician back in the 20's thru the early 40's in Detroit and Chicago. He proceeds to tell me that his dad received a call late one evening that the local police department had a prisoner that needed some attention and they would like for him to come down to the station.

So he went to the police station downtown to accomadate the police as he was requested to do. Before going into the lockup area he was taken to an interrogation room and is briefed by the sargeant to assure him that he will be heavily escorted and the officers will remain with him during his examination and subsequent treatment of the inmate/patient.

He insisted that it would probably not be necessary and that he felt he would be just fine. The sargeant says you dont understand the situation clearly yet.

In response, the sargeant proceeds to tell him that they have a very high profile and very dangerous prisoner in custody. He said really, the sargeant said yes. He is a very well known individual by most who listen to the radio, read the paper or those who had a TV back in those days.

Dr. Bob said, well who is this individual? The sargeant said John Dillinger. Dr. Bob said, well that is interesting. Then he proceeds to tell the sargeant, lets get to it. Just as cool as a cucumber.

I thought it was a very interesting piece of history from back in the day of gangsters and bootleg whiskey. Some to the younger fellas on here may not know who John Dillinger was.

If not do a search for him on the internet and you will find some interesting reading.

Not a wildlife related piece of info but getting around in this industry with our travels can give a fella a good education one way or another at times.

Good for you Bob, wildlife is as interesting as heck but animals still can't hold a candle to humans when it comes to interesting!

Dillinger always wanted to rob banks, even as a kid, and he grew up to be one of the best. When asked, one of his famous quotes was,

"I rob banks for a living, what do you do?" As far as not being wildlife related, I can't think of anyone who led more of a wild life

right offhand.

Wasn't this followed by, "Why do you rob banks?"
"Because that's where the money is!"

Just doing what I want now.

Was it one of them said " I never robbed a bank unless I needed the money"?
