I get my share on 'snake calls' but, I had an interesting one the other day that involved 'lizards'...
There are only a few lizards in the state where I live and it is rare people actually see them.
We even have one imported from Italy that has taken up in the Cincinnati area, the European wall lizard.
This may be one of those although it doesn't look like the picture given in the booklet on reptiles and amphibians supplied by the ODNR.

That said, here's a picture of one tonight and maybe someone on here can help me identify it.
It has bright blue spots down the side and seems to be about 5-6" in length as an adult.
The 'blue spots' may be for mating purposes or as a display of aggression, not sure.

The lizards are caught by using a special designed wooden box with several holes through it.
Inside the lizard is captured on a 'glue pad' , out of the sun and harms way.
It is not injured and is easily set free by pouring vegetable oil over the reptile, which dissolves the glue, allowing the lizard to wiggle free...

Nice LT,

Around here my first attempts to use glue board with cahabas on snake specific calls taught me I really had a lizard magnet, finally gave up on that method, though for lizards is hands down a quicker picker upper, placed as you say where they are shaded of course.

I now only use them where folks have seen venomous snake in the garage or house where I won't pickup all the lizards in the area. Not sure who that that guy might be, but nice pics!

A view of the box,( at lease as a lizard sees it).
A hole on either side allows the lizard a clear view through it.
Insects often get stuck on the glue trap too, making the lure to enter the box even greater.
I'm putting on together for black rat snakes, although it will be much larger.

Well Dave, you're probably like me and don't mind the lizards around the property as they eat a lot of insects...

Believe it or not "geckos" and lizards are a regular call here. Almost always the Carolina Anole who wandered in.

Skink are amazingly fast for their size.

Warrior, what do you then do with the lizards you catch ?

And are all yours caught by hand ? Or do you set some kind of trap ?

I usually won't take the call because by the time I arrive it's long gone. If I see it by hand, if not glue board.

I think here these calls go mostly to pest control operators, just like our neighbor AZ (Vinke), we have lizards literally everywhere. Working on some office work today at home, if I go outside and walk our little postage stamp I typically can count 10+ without leaving the .10 of an acre... Mostly whiptails here at our house, though NM has a ton of lizard diversity.

Most clients I have for other things seem to look fondly on the lizards and see them as "cute" or otherwise harmless.... Gotta be some folks with phobias though, just like anything..

As long as we're on the subject, today as I'm about to get in my vehicle, I notice something move on the customer's brick driveway. I stop and look down and here are what look to my like very small toads, and lots of them. You could probably have covered three of them with a nickel. The were very dark colored. Toads?
