we are all still tobacco free Dr. Steven....hahahahahaha. You sure seem like a smart feller, I'd love to meet you face to face. Will you be attending any major conventions this year (trapping that is, not medical)? I'd really love to meet up with you, and personally thank you for all your support and kind words.

Yep! You "beat it". In a year you will be back dipping. I know, I tried quitting several times and always went back.

You want to be smart mouths? Fine, go ahead, act like the fools you are. I am beginning to understand why I do not see any post from some of the big name trappers on here like I saw back 10 years ago. They got tired of all of you who know it alls.

I believe the " big name" trappers got tired of people like yourself, not the few of us discussing quitting an addiction with one another. Have a good day big guy!

Ok, everything going well here. on Day 17 and it is getting easier all the time. So with this Steven fella, I do not understand how two weeks of using mint snuff would prevent a recurrence a year down the road? That makes little sense. I could see how using a substitute for two weeks would help on the inital withdrawl, but it would be no different long-term unless you are still using the mink snuff a year later and that would defeat the whole purpose.

I am going with the theory that Mr. Steven is a pyschologist. He is motivating us by telling us we can't quit cold turkey. That inspires us to be defiant. To me, the best motivation is hearing about all of you going through this at the same time.

Steven, is there any way you could post your personal phone number on this thread, so whenever one of us "smart mouthed fools" feels weak and like caving, when can call you for inspiration? smile

Recent studies have indicated that prolonged used if mint snuff can lead to lack of brain cells, and increased risk of dimentia.

I worked in the logging industry for 40 yrs, starting after I turned 18. I remember my first day that I rode on a crew bus. There were around 25 or 30 guys smoking or chewing on the bus. It wasn't long until I started smoking and chewing and soon was hooked on tobacco. I would smoke and chew at the same time. If I ran out of chew I would chew the tobacco from a cigarette butt. After about 30 or 35 years my daughter and I made an agreement that I would stop using tobacco, and I made a promise to her that I would quit. That was around 27 yrs ago, and I haven't touched tobacco since. I still have cravings to this day to have a chew, but I know if I have just one chew I will be hooked again. If I smell chewing tobacco my mouth starts to water. After reading about you guy's commitment to quit I think about how hard it was for me to stop. All of you guys who have made the decision to quit, You can do it. If I can, anyone can. Greg

What the? The mint stuff still has nicotine, right? If I'd have went that way I'd still be chewing it. Been like 18 days and I like the five dollar bills adding up in my dresser drawer. Ain't going back
