Dirthole with a block of wood as backing.
Charred Block Scent Post.
This is a simply Cubby I make for coon. It will take a fair amount as well. LOL.
A double Dirthole . Hole in the wood is baited with (just Mice) and there is a mouse hole in the ground made with a stake. if trying to catch coyotes though I would recomend a BIGGER piece of wood with a hole in it, just so the yote doesn't carry it off. LOL.
Another Double Dirthole I made for Grey Fox. If setting for Coyote, open the backing up a little more so you are not crowding the coyote.
The dirtmound Set. It isn't finished as you can see I havn't covered the pan, and I have not lured the set, but you get the general Idea.
This is another Scent Post/Curiosity type set. The trap is set on a property where the owner is a Meat cutter. He has a compost pile with a bunch of bones and Heads, inards, etc. So the skull is NOT something they are not used to seeing. However, if you are in an area that is pretty open, these skulls seem to work pretty good as an Eye catcher. LOL.
And this one is similar to a Step down dirthole, however I started with a Hole that the coyotes had already dug. LOL. The only thing I would tell you to do differently with a set like this is pull the trap back a few more inches so that when the yote steps down into the upper level of the stepdown, it is stepping on the pan. Don't give it time to "dance" and think about it. I missed the yote the first time it came to this set, but then I moved the trap back a bit because the coyote told me it wasn't gonna step where I put it. LOL. and I got it next time by. LOL.
Hope that helps.
