Is there anyone in Indiana that taps maple trees? Is there anywhere in Indiana to buy spiles or syrup making supplies? I know they can be bought online but i like to see what i am buying before i buy it and like to keep money local.

You might want to contact the Indiana Maple Syrup Association: http://www.indianamaplesyrup.org/

If you're only tapping a few trees you don't need to spend a lot of money on supplies. When I was a kid I made spiles from elderberry stems, and later out of half inch PVC with wire hooks to hang the buckets. The most important thing is to do the evaporating outdoors, or in a shed with lots of ventilation. Remember that you will be putting 45 gallons of water into the air for every gallon of syrup you make.
