Where ever you see white is water, brown is land, and yellow is the sanbar.
There are otter tracks all over the sandbar where these two ditches meet, however they are coming out of the water at a different place everytime almost. The sandbar is about 20 feet long. I tried blocking off some of the sandbar and putting a trap in the entrance i made but the otter or otters just came up in a different spot. I need to know how to catch these otters. I thought there might be a toilet near by but i looked for a pretty good while and no go.

Slap a dirthole right in the sandbar and try a couple of baited pocket sets on either side of the smaller stream.

Definitely looks to be a challenge. Any big logs laying in the water parallel to the shore? How about with small creek branches about two to three feet wide. Any nearby? If you can find anything like that set a bodygrip and wait. It's always awaiting game! lol Good luck

I thought about putting in a dirt hole on the sandbar. That is what i will probably end up doing.

There are some big logs but not big enough. No little streams coming in for a long ways.

Are there any trails comming across the sharp point of land in the upper right going back and fourth from the smaller creek to the larger one. That maybe a good spot for a blind set IMHO. Brad

If the only dog you can hear in the hunt is your's, your probably missing the best part of the race.

I would concentrate on the smaller stream. If there is anywhere on it that has obstructions where at least part of the channel is blocked, can you block it off even more yourself and get it narrow enough for a couple 330s- if legal? I did this this year and got 2. Had a large tree down mostly in the water, just moved it a little to block the stream except for 2 spots.

That's pretty much all I have to offer, sorry. Don't have much experience just thought I would share what worked this year.

Take your boot or shovel and make a slide at the ends of the sand bar and slick them up. Set an appropriate size foothold trap on a drowning rig in the water just a few inches deep.

mncooner, i tried blocking off the smaller stream but it was too swift

ace, tried that also but they just come up in a different spot

I am going to put in a double dirthole and see how it goes, wish me luck.

find a steep spot on the sandbar or off the point at the junction of the two streams .... cut ya a channel goin up the bank with ya shovel .... slick it up good .... dip a stick into sum Backbreaker and shove it in the bank a couple feet or more above ya trap (in the cut-out) .... collect otter
