Thanks a lot JR.I never see much on how AK trappers stake, when they need to.I have to do a good bit of staking here, due to open country.

Yes sir that is single wall stainless up to Metalbestos going through the ceiling. The stainless is amazing and never had to replace it on any of the cabins once installed. Costly but well worth it. I usually fire the pipe pretty hard once a week just to burn out the creosote which builds pretty quickly since I only idle my stove most of the time.

I agree. It's the only way to go ! Never have to worry about it. I run it all the way out from my stove.

I used to run mine all the way out to but the creosote build up above the roof line was pretty bad because of the cold pipe. I put Metalbestos in last spring and seems to be working well. My stove just idles once the cabin is up to temp and I let it rage about once a week to clean out the pipe. I've seen some pretty wicked stack fires over the years in cabins that could have went terribly wrong if we weren't there to take care of it. After a couple pretty good scares, the extra cash for stainless pipe seems petty in comparison to building a new cabin.

Came back from the cabin to plow some snow. Got a bit of snow out there and crazy winds. Pulled the groomer out to the creek and proceeded up to the cabin. Didn't see much for sign probably due to snow and wind. First trip out without seeing any caribou. Got the fire going and on up the trail. Had one wolf walking up the trail but missed my all the gear until Pee Post Pass. Not only did I get my first double on it last trip but I picked up another one in the remake with a MB 750. I've never caught a wolf in the same spot twice in one season until now. The trap bed was worn down from the last catch so I bedded the thinner MB 750 rather than the AK#9. It worked.
86# gray male
Had about 20 minutes of nice calm weather so I took this pic.
Wolves made a kill just off the river. Young moose, looked like 3 wolves left in this pack. Left some snares above the kill. Not really good snaring area but should pick at least one off it.
Picked up a matched set of antlers about a half mile apart

Thawing 76# gray female from last week in the shop
Turning the ears on this week's gray male in the fur shed

Nice wolf Howler! I'd love to catch a NICE looking wolf instead of the mangy, lousy, or Mohawk wolves I have been lately. After taking out 20 or so from my line in the past 3 years I do notice an improvement in the fur quality though. Less competition usually means more resources to the surviving wolves, less stress should improve the fur.

I bet the top of Alstom Creek would be almost like Pee Post Creek. Jonas hot a huge 135# wolf near Fish Hole the other day.

Pulled the short line and man was that a long day. 75 mile round trip and was stuck more times that day than the rest of the entire season. Some rough conditions for towing a sled.

Figured I'd take a pic of this years catch before they go to their new homes. Got a few of them sold. 3 in snares, 7 in AK#9's and 1 in a MB750.

Hope to see some of ya at the ATA auction and Fling on the 18th and 19th. Good times guaranteed...

It looks like that thing breaks a nice trail for the way back. That's a good looking door too!
