Tundra Joe that looks like a new poster. Welcome.
I have used pencil in the past. Felt will bleed.

I just got my patterns from NAFA. Oval
How do you guys use those? Do the largest circle on all your boards then cut the largest circle off with a pair of scissors?

Thanx for the reply,s. I am using a carpenter,s pencil to make my circles. I also have the NAFA patterns. I bought a sheet of thin plastic and traced the patterns on them. This way they are reusable into infinity. I started with the largest size and worked down. I usually use hoops but happened to catch a beav in the 60 pound range and am confident it will not fit the hoop!!!

thats one huge beaver my biggest is 54 and i thought that was a hog but it fit good on the hoop with quite a bit of room to spare. you can see the it in the background of the pic i also like to use little peices of wood the close the leg holes probably dosn't matter but it dont hurt either

You can draw ovals or elipses just as you can circles. String, pencil and two nails. An elipse has two centers rather than one. Just shorten the string.

Someone with some art talent perhaps can illustrate it

Welcome tundrajoe,
I use hoops and hog rings like the picture above, easier to store than a bunch of plywood.

I didn't actually help build them but I did the design work.

S.E.A.: I have used your method and it works well , including the small boards. Wayne Freebersiser I think has a tape about it and he sells the hoops.

All of the hoops are not the same size. I got a bunch one time and they were smaller than the others I had so I cut one of them into pieces and welded sections into the rest to lengthen them.
