Depends on what part of Montana you are in. George Corbin buys out of Anaconda. A guy named Hughs (sp) is in Roundup I think. There are several others floating around. Petska comes to Sheridan WY once in a while and John Graham swings through eastern MT on occasion. I am sure more MT trappers will chime in.

Don Judkins, Fort Benton furs, based in Orofino, Idaho but travels in Montana

Fort Bridger fur out of the Columbus area

The Montana trappers association has a sale with multiple buyers in Columbus, Montana the middle of March

I would be a little cautious of George Kortum in Anaconda. I know a few people have had some issues with him. I bought some supplies from him but I haven't made up my mind yet. I know his traps are way overpriced.

The reason I ask is because I remember a thread a few months ago where Kortum was rude to a guy who was checking out some tanned furs and wanted some other opinions and options from some fellow trappers. Last thing I want is to deal with a guy who I don't think I can trust. I haven't heard anything bad about any of the other buyers. I live in Helena by the way.

I've never had one bad deal with Goerge Kortum, If I liked the price he shot me I sold, If I didn't I walked No different than any other fur buyer I ever sold to. Goerge has been the high bidder on many occasions. Do you want to sell fur or make friends? And why I ask is because business is business and friends and business don't always go hand in hand. I have sold fur to practicaly every fur buyer in Montana and They are all alike, they want to make money just like we do. Good luck. P.S Larry Dilulo, Thunder Mountain Furs is out of Havre is a good buyer to deal with. You should give Goerge a try and decide for your self instead of going by what you hear from some one else.

I like the auction in Columbus, I don't care for John huges. I sold a bunch of marten to a buyer in superior mt that was great to deal with.

I sold to George Kortum last year and was pleased with his prices on fox, coyote, marten, muskrat and bobcat. I shipped my furs to him and he called the day he got them with prices. I felt he treated me very fair.

I should be set up to buy in the Flathead after the first of the year. Judkins told me last year that he couldn't afford to buy large lots of marten at the current prices.

If Judkin's didn't have the money it was because his sugar daddy didn't want them at the current prices.

Was no skin off my back, i didnt have the time to put them up when I talked to him and wanted to make room in my fur freezer. I ended up putting them up during my time off this spring. They are all waiting now for the January NAFA pickup here.

I worked with Don in Gt. Falls at Pacific Hide and Fur, he was the best man at my wedding. He is not new to the fur game.

I first sold fur to Don in the winter of 1978-79. Started working for Pacific in 80-81. I worked for them through the spring of 84. We used to do some pretty hard core fish back then too.
