Made out of plywood or 1X4 lumber.

MINK/MARTEN BOX For a 120 Magnum Trap, LDL or Belisle

Dimensions: For 5/8 or 3/4 inch lumber or plywood
Bottom 8 x 18 Inside Dimensions
Top 8 x 14 Width: 6 inches
Sides 6 x 14 Height: 6

Notes:
1. Use restricted blackened lid cover with 2 diameter hole for mink and box covered well with grass or debris. Mink are attracted to round holes and this size hole will restrict barn cats when trapping farm areas but allow mink into the box.

2. Cut spring slots to 9 depth within 5 of back of box so that trap can be set within four inches of the bait at back of box. Spring slot width of 1 inch.

3. Two 2 inch finish nails up thru bottom of box at the back to impale bait on.

4. Wire mess for back of box cover.

Or try what I call a culvert box in small feeder streams. No bait, lure only if anything; mink and rats traveling the stream are attracted to the dark hole.

After ice up but before there is alot of snow. Here is some that arent quite done yet...7x7x16 to accomodate 110 bodygrips. They will be kind of like BC Tomcats-screened in on one end and the other end will have a 2 1/2" hole in the end board and it will pivot on 2 sheetrock screws as a hinge and just hang there in place.

Les, what kind of luck do you have with those? I have had very limited success myself. We have had a few threads on here about coniboxes for mink, and some seem to do Ok. I'm still looking for the secret.

There is no secret. After ice up,on your, larger marshes, and before water levels drop in beaver ponds leaving shell ice with air under underneath, mink seem to move around more on the "topside".After snowfall accumulates in later winter, their sign all but dissapears.I'me making up a hundred of these boxes for 110s because I dont ues them hardly anywwhere.A bodygrip is a 3 day check here and either a pan trigger or loose monofiliment tripwire beween the triggerwires will take any weasle, and then I can use a little bigger hole in my end board.Sooner or later I'll make up 100 boxes "weasle legal" for 1 1/2 coils with the 2" endboard hole for the 3 day check. These will take marten too but I'me not worried about it where I'me trapping.I'll run lakeshores with weed beds too before all the snow drifting.

You are never gonna catch 100 mink with 100 sets in a 3 day check, but think about the dynamics of catching...say 5-10 plus weasles, every 3 days and moving your sets around to new locations ever periodically.I'me useing a snowmobile when I do it.Its the shear number of sets thats to my advantage, and haveing enough country to set them in.

I really think that footholds at these boxes would make you more successful the trick is getting them to stick their head in however I don't run many foot traps because of the one day check
