I boiled my traps in walnuts and apparently some of them were rotten. Now all the traps I did smell like rotten walnuts. I'm now ready to wax them. Should I start over with another batch of walnuts or will the odor hurt?

I would not worry about them smelling unless they still stink after airing out. Tom

I was worried that rotten smell would cause them to dig them up.

I use rotten walnuts and green ones in the mix, never had any trouble. I can't say the traps smelled but the boiling mix does.

just something for you to think about, right now, are the walnuts that the k9's coming in contact with rotten or green, i would say rotten, so i would imagine the rotten ones would be the ones to be using in the first place.

Mine smelled a bit too even after they were fully dry. They don't smell anymore with the wax over them. Dan
