it will hold and kill but you are better off with a 330 or 280 the reason is it will be hard to get a beaver to go through a 220 but in a narrow spot they will work

$20.00 trap, a $1.00 stake, probably $1.00 in pan cover, bait, urine, and lure, Not to mention gas etc. All for a $10.00 coyote.Priceless!!!!!

I agree with k-9, i have got 2 or three in them on some otter crossovers. The ones i got were perfect behind the head, helped that they were in brand new ones.

8X8 and they do a number on beaver in narrow spots. I have taken many beaver with 280's and a few in 220's though I do not recommend using a 220 for beaver. I like the 280 for otter. OT

I always suggest using a beaver trap for beaver, and that would be a 330.
A 220 is a dandy coon trap, but is greatly lacking as a beaver trap.

I finally got some 330's this summer and I am sold!!! The 220 will catch them , but I think it would work better for Otter and smaller cratters, from seeing the results of a close friend and reading in places like this and FFg and TPC. I am using a couple of these in bob cat traps. In Michigan(residents and native) , the rules state that the trap , over 6" has to be at least 4 ft off the ground, so I used tinsel for and attractor. one of these dang things ate a critter I had caught. ( I think, tracks were there)still a mystery to me. hahahahah one friend thinks it might have been snapping turtles???? well, for the water sets I got.

The 220 has taken Beaver but I would not recommend it! The 330 is a better choice.

Thats not a 220? A Super Bear (330 thats 20"wide) works well in large runs. If otter are in the area, yer gonna have alot of traps set off!

i`ve trapped quite a few beavers in 220`s but they have to be in a narrow channel or somthing to get them to go through it but i still recomend 280`s or 330`s
