I had a guy swear to me that I won't use anything else in my sets after the first time I use bacon grease...anyone else use this?

It's good stuff for coon and red fox, so I imagine grays will like it too!

Were not allowed to use bait anymore, but I hear cracklins are good fox bait, So bacon grease should be as well. I bet possums love it too.

Mix a dash of shellfish oil in with it to enhance the food:curiosity factor. I am not aware of anything that will not investigate bacon grease alone, or spiked a little bit with an ingredient of choice.

How do you keep it liquid like. I put some in a squirt bottle and it is solid and I cant get it to come out very easily, especially as it is now frosting at night.

I added a little oil to the pan before frying...kept it pretty runny. I just put it in a tupperware container and poured it out this evening. Hopefully I'll see some sign of critters!

Use to get a five gallon bucket of it from the local cafe in the early 80's, id use it for test holes though before season to see if anything was around before setting traps. Greys will dig to china after it, never tried it at an actual set as didn't want to encourage all that digging, but yes they will jump all over it if any are around.

Think I got that idea from a old Jim Helfrich article.

Blue, go out drive a rebar stake in the ground, wiggle it around, fill with grease then come back in a couple of days and see what size hole you have then, lol.

BlueRidge, add a couple drops of skunk essence to the grease and you have a dynamite lure for nearly anything. David Pilgrim let me try some he had made up years ago, and it is great!

It's all I used when I was kid, just make a dirt hole set and add maybe 1/2 a teaspoon amount to the hole.

No porky's here...only thing I have to worry about would be a bear looking for a snack.
