Don't know about bloodroot, but it takes close to 3 lbs of green ginseng to make a dried pound. The price of bloodroot is very low.

I've sold a lot of blood root for $5 a lb. $10 isn't a bad price at all.

Blood root does have a tendency to mold while drying. Its important to keep a lot of air flow going, and a de humidifier if need be.Takes about 2 lbs wet for one dry.

It will take 3 to 5 lbs of bloodroot to make a lb. of dry bloodroot. Depends on what time of the year you dig it. I can use bloodroot at 10 a lb. It must be dry and clean with no mold. Once you have it dry and by dry I mean it should snap when it bends, you should store it in a cardboard box or a paper bag. Never plastic of any kind.

I guess you can hang it if you want to. In my thoughts it would have to be hung on a string to dry. I don't think that I would want to put a string through a thousand roots or more or less every time I decided to dig blood root. The only other way to hang it would be to tie the leaves with the roots attached to them into bundles.
The easiest way to dry it is to put it on screens until 100 per cent dry, then put into boxes or paper bags.

10.00 a pound is the best price I've ever seen. It's shallow and easy to dig and grows in patches or small general area.
