California AB1213 update 3/22/13

Here is a summary of AB1213 - Was introduced on February 22, 2013 by Assemblyman Bloom and this bill was called The Bobcat Protection Act of 2013. On March 19th amendments to AB1213 were submitted and the bill was assigned to committee (Water, Parks & Wildlife) on March 20th. A hearing date on April 2nd was scheduled.

The NTA has been in contact with Reid Aiton and Mercer Lawing with the CTA. The lobbying firm of Lynch and Associates is familiar to the CTA and they are comfortable with them. In researching this firm they represent many groups including SCI-CA, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and CA Firearm Retailers, to mention a few. The CTA has an active bank account and has of yesterday a link to donate via pay-pal or credit card to the effort. The NTA has sent out updates and alerts in an effort to assist the CTA in raising the funds to fight this fight. The NTA has donated to this effort.

It will take a great deal of time to fight this and defeat it. It is no doubt going to take substantial time initially and also as follow up to be sure the language doesn’t get attached to some other bill as an amendment or revision. This is all dependant upon the bill being killed in committee. The CTA will be sending people to their capital to lobby the members of the committee and this will be done in cooperation with Lynch and associates.

Donations may be sent to Reid Aiton, PO Box 1339, Blue Lake, CA 95525 or on the CTA website at
http://californiatrappers.com/ and click on the donate link…

IF we defeat this, next will come the ballot initiative, just like they did with catamounts (I'm from New Englan and this sounds better). Oh, and there is a bill introduced to ban all lead for hunting winding its way through the legislature. Doomed.

Thank you Cindy.

Not much I can add to your post other than we are all working hard over here and will do our absolute best with the donations we recieve.

We do have some pretty strong allies and a lot of good advice from all over the country. Our lobby company is excellent with a long history in Sacramento.

The NTA did step up and get us going and the FTA is pitching in as well. Several state organizations are working on helping us out and the website we threw together is working nicely for individuals wanting to help out. I am sure more folks and associations will come to the rescue. To see donations coming from places like the Bronx in New York pulls at my heart strings and makes me feel good about my brother trappers.

Thanks again, ML

Ohio Wolverine,
Thank you so much for the contribution. I am sure it will be paid back to you 10 fold in just knowing you did what you could do.

I tried to join the CTA on line, but it told me "You have already signed up with this account information", and would not let me join. I'm I just being the problem child? Or has anyone else experienced this?

Would they except an out of state e-mail ?

I started to send one , and while signing up , the state was CA . So I started thinking I better ask about out of state e-mails.

All Concerned:

We need to flood these offices with calls and faxes tomorrow.

If you can only call one call the chair Mr. Rendon.

A simple "I oppose AB 1213" is all we need. If you have unlimited minutes on your cell, use them up...

If you are a resident it would be better, but it does not matter if you are a resident of California, we NEED your help:
