A friend of mine found a 100 pound coon that got stuck up in his corn crib. His dad had to shoot it several times with his 22 pistol to kill it. When they were trying to get it out they broke both its back legs just by picking it up.

100 lbs seems a little small for a Iowa corncribber coon. Did it have milk on its lips?

If a coon stretched an inch per pound, your coyote boards would be too small.

Never caught a Nebr coon over 40 lbs, 38 or so, anything over 32 lbs pretty darn big. caught 3 or 4 over 40 in Wyo. Put stuff on a scale, and it never weighs what ya guess. Everybody and and their brother "shot a 50 lber last week" I always tell um, you bring one over and it weighs 50, Ive got a $100 bill for it. Somehow, still got my money. These guys that get these 50-60 lb coons catch or shoot like 10-15 a year. In my coon killing prime, 800-1000/year, I found LUCKY to get 1 per year that would be worth weighing, and then its like 32-33 lbs. These guys get a 50 lber about every 5 coon!

32 lbs is the biggest I caught this season. I saw a 40 pounder back in Aberdeen South Dakota in 1981 at a fur buyers. It won the big coon contest he was having. I had got one out of an old house back then that weighed 33 lbs and thought it was a sure win. Not so.

The biggest my Dad, me or my son ever caught was the one my Dad and I got in 1980. That one was 32 pounds and we got him at a campground where he had been living off camsite garbage and left over smores all his life. The biggest this year was a 24 in Ohio and 25 here in Pa.
100 pound coon? sure it wasn't a bear? Maybe it was an escaped Chinese Coon dog or the neighbors black lab.LOL

41 lbs is my biggest. Took me decades to get that one and I may NEVER see another in my lifetime.

Most weigh coon like they weigh fish...with their eyes. Put em on the scale and things change a LOT.

When I lived in SE MN in the early 80's me and my brother hung a few hundred coons on a fish scale to try and debunk the 50lb coons the hunters said they were getting. We had 2 go over 40 on that scale. This year I thought I caught a big coon here and on the same scale it was 35lb

I think 33 lbs...on a scale...that is tested for accuracy every once in awhile. lol I weigh any that look like they are near upper 20s and I get 1 or 2 a year that go over 30. For whatever reason 27 pounds is a cutoff around here for bigger coon, I've seen that number a lot.

Twenty some years ago I caught a 'coon that went 35 pounds. Had a few more since then that hit the 30 plus mark. Most of the 'coons around here aren't big bodied, just FAT. LOL Two years ago I caught three in two days that were at the 26 pound mark. Most of what is around here run from 15 to 20 pounds. Most stretch from 33 to 38 inches.

32 pounds on a scale and maybe a few not weighted in that same range - my cut off seems to be 27-28 pounds - those monsters all seem to his 28 and stop - these are Iowa coons

Back in PA biggest was a 22 pound I caught in Potter county one season, and a 20 pounder i caught at the end of January down in SE PA

A few monster coon. Lindsey's first pig.
4 of the coon in my pic are the largest I have ever seen. The tweo hanging from the board are draped down and on the ground and the two on the ground to the right. I've seen about a haldf dozen coon taken by others that are bigger than these over the last 30 years.

Here is a couple pics I have shown here before and weighting it was a thought after skinning. 42 lbs maybe a tad shy but the scale is accurate. I got another 30 yrs earlier that went 45 on a scale but I wouldn't guarentee it's accuraccy.

Pelt hanging as you see it was 41 inches nose to base of tail and streatched 43 and 12 inches wide on a yote streacher..

if you stood further back that coon would have looked like it would have weighed 200 lbs
