I was looking at buying some Bridger 1.5 coils and welding some double jaws on them, should I buy a kit or just weld a straight bar across the jaw? If so what size round stock? 1/8?

Straight bar works great.

After elections are over I use the wire from old campaign signs.

make sure you have clearance for the coil spring. on my first try they hit the coils and had to reset.

Here's what nails or 1/8" rod look like, get it super cheap at the scrap yard or free from a local welding shop or machine shop.
Make sure it clears your pan post!
