So tonight at an auction I had To correct 3 separate people's ideas on trapping related subjects. One was going to buy a trap to make an illegal set( he didn't know the law), the other was going to buy #11 ls traps to use on coyotes and bobcats, and the third just had some run of the mill questions. I didn't try to find people with questions just stuff that came up while looking at traps for sale. My question is are there any state pegs that put things in newspapers? I was thinking it would b a good Idea put a little section in some of the smaller town papers. Something like "the truth about trapping". Just some rid bits about trapping to clarify some general things and possibly curb some anti lies. Just a thought. Just curious if anyone did it.

Papers would never print it. At least not in my area.

Deercreek, that is a very good idea and definitely a step in a positive direction for trapping,in general. With local papers facing cutbacks in staff, they just may appreciate some free articles to add to their local or outdoors sections that would present trapping in a positive light.I think I will approach my local weekly papers and talk to the editors,my son worked for one of them for three years and is presently employed by another one,so I already have a good relationship with both of them. Thanks, for the idea,I will post later and let you know how it worked out.

Sometimes folks will take it upon themself if they see the need. Most state associations are too busy trying to fight legislation to have a chance to do that. Ours here in Illinois do several outdoor shows putting up a booth to try to reach the public. I have also participated in a Trailblazers with ours as well. Everyone should belong to their state and national associations as well.

Our guys here also do demos where ever the public goes.State fairs, etc. Personally,I don't know where they get the time, and its always the same guys. But they do a great job educating the public!

Newspapers will print most anything if you pay for the space...
