Thats all I use 220 in a box, for both coon and fisher, I use wet cat food and fish oil. My set up is simple right up against a coon path triggers in a "v" shape coming down from the top bent slightly inwards. Gets em every time!!

I believe MN has new laws for bodygrippers on dryland. You might want to check into it if you haven't.

The laws apply to public land.

Just heard rumor of change from my dad, didn't have the details. Would read the laws if they changed the residency rules.

If and when I use buckets, I use a lid with the system.

I cut a 6" round whole in center of lid, and place a 160 in the bucket. Sorry no help with the 220, I know.

A 220 for me is more for trail sets, a 160 is all that is needed in a bucket IMO.

220's in buckets is a dog killer. We can't use 220's on the ground now without a 10 inch recess in Wisconsin. I think if you take the time to build wooden cubbys with a 7 inch recess and use 160's you will avoid dogs and catch all the coon you want to skin.

220s in square buckets racked up numbers for me last year. that was my first year using them and I am 100% convinced! they are awesome.

They may work in the cold cold winter.. But early season unless you do alot of prebaiting we seen lots of refusales!
One thing that did help was cut the floor out of the bucket. I do not think they like the feeling of the plastic on there feet.
I am going to set up a bucket in front of my night vision camera with a trap in it but set so it cannot go off... I will post my results if I remember!

That's correct, but a pain to build when 160's are cheaper and don't require it.

I was at the forest zone trappers convention this past weekend and one of the presenters mentioned not using plastic buckets for 220 sets. His claim was tham many dogs (including mine) are fed out of white plastic buckets, and that dogs will see the bucket, smell the bait, and assume it is food for them. If to many more dogs are caught in 220's it might start to spell the end of 220's on our trap lines.

All i trap is private land so dogs arent a problem. Just wonder if anybody is still using them. Does anybody use bait piles or dumps for coon and set snares, footholds, or dps around it?

Do you have a lot of skunks around? Seems like bait piles would pull them in by the dozens.

I think i live in the skunk capital of the world. Haha I think bait piles would attract skunks too but what wont.

Down here,220's in buckets are possum magnets, until you thin them out and the coons get a chance,at the bait,it can take a week, sometimes. I have much more success with my 220's in blind trail sets for coon,on the well worn coon trails,in the brushy areas.I will catch some possums and armadillo's,as well,as incidentals, but,I catch quite a few bobcats and a grey fox or two, also, with this set.Good luck, remember, what works best for some in one area of the country, may not be the best choice, for others,in a different area, especially,if it is not a legal set.
