Hello, I went out scouting tonight on some of the private land that I am going to trap this November and saw what I think to be muskrat signs. Am I correct? I was told that at the island there is no shoreline. I drops straight to 15 feet deep but the bank closest to me does have a shoreline I can trap. I was just thinking about running floats until it freezes and then try some 110's.

Does anyone have and advice they can give me?

Thanks again guys, Chris

I would assume that your water level is as low as it will be right now. That means you should find a way to mark the bank den entrances now rather than later. If you find the bank den entrances, then you can trap them with conis or colonys very easily.

I'd also look for bankholes but I'd pass on the 110s and go for 160s. 160s can also be used for coon and skunks and fisher when not in the water. 110s will end up hanging in a shed when not used for rats.

Looks like rat sign, but that looks like a pretty small pond. Check for a ledge under that overhanging grass. Hard to say but looks like it would be good for a dozen rats or so.

Sign? It looks good for muskrat but, sign? I see what could be rat holes in the bank. I don't see rat droppings, Cattail roots chewed, slides, or feed piles.

It looks like a place with "potential"

I saw that Jim, just going to have to do it the hard way. I'm going to have to get a little boat to get over to the island to check the den holes and mark them.

Very good idea guys, thank you
