Hello everyone i live in NY and was just wondering what your favorite coyote lures and set are. I have had luck with mark junes double mousehole walk through sets but iam going to try and pick up a fiew more yotes this year any lure and set tips you can offer would be great. They are really starting to take a toll on my reds and I would like to thin em out. pics would be great if you have any. THANK YOU, JUSTIN

I have good results with flat sets here in my area. Yotes in my neck of the woods just dont seem to want to work a dirthole....I like to use old bleached out bones with a shot of urine on them and a little gland lure under the bones. I have real good luck with O'Gormans plenty coyotes lure also....here are a few pics of my sets.

This yote was caught in the set picture above....one of the prettiest yotes I have ever pinched...

I don't live in the east but I've caught 2-3 coyotes. Once they move in it's tough to get rid of them. If you shoot them from airplanes, put out cyanide guns, den them and trap them for a couple years year round you can lower the population. Anything less won't work. They are good breeders. If you trap a lot of them you will have a healthy population (of coyotes) every year and save a few fawns. Your fox population probably aint ever coming back to what it was.

They have been real hard on our fox population here my area.....Coyotes are survivors for sure....They are here to stay, all we can do is try to manage there numbers.

You need #3 size traps, #2 minimum. focus on setting your traps farther back from the hole. There's no secret bait or lure, what you using is fine.

I like flat sets too for yotes, but also use Junes style of setting.lennons Fox or yote #3 is great for flat sets, and I also like Jamisons gland lures, and marking scent
I still have a few reds but they are found closer to towns and houses away from the yotes

Deer & rabbits took a real hammering here along with the bobcats & fox. Lucky that the wolf/coy hybrid wasn't granted wings and fins or there wouldn't be any ducks or fish either. They are eating machines that never seem to fill that void in their stomach. That void is what makes them so catchable but they reproduce so quickly that it takes a lot of pressure to curtail their numbers.

Whistle, that is a beautiful 'yote. It looks like it's been kept groomed and pampered by a pet lover. Nice pics.

I use Dirt holes, Flat sets, Post, Snares you name it. They all have their place and to be a success one needs to be as diverse as the animals we chase. As for lure I am a fan of Blackies (TKO or High Voltage) but then I am partial to blackies because it's the lure I grew up using.

Nice pic of the tranquil coyote that we trappers often refer to in our debate versus the lies which the ARA tell. Nice looking yote. Removing that prime animal makes less chance of starvation & contagion among his clan but that truth is unattainable for the PETAfiles & H$U$ites.

Your thinning those mangy animals out is one of the reason you can catch top quality pelts today and see the fruition of well managed wildlife.
